Lower Jurassic Hazelton Group volcanics and sediments of the Unuk River Formation, located on the east side of Harrymel Creek, are in fault contact with the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group sediments to the west. The contact between the Triassic and Lower Jurassic rocks is marked by an extensive north-northwest trending cataclasite zone, known as the South Unuk Zone, which contains biotite-chlorite-epidote schist (Bulletin 63, Figure 13).

Mineralization occurs within schist in this cataclasite zone near a north trending fault which dips 60 to 85 degrees west. The occurrence consists of a well mineralized zone within quartz-epidote schist which hosts abundant pyrite, chalcopyrite and some pyrrhotite.

West of the showing, the Stuhini Group rocks consist of epidotized and sheared greywacke with silicified epidotized and carbonate altered argillite. East of the north trending fault, the Unuk River Formation rocks consist mainly of graphitic schists and silicified greenstones.

Work History

In 1989 Loki Gold Corp and Rocky Mountain Energy Corp conducted an exploration program consisted of helicopter-supported reconnaissance prospecting, geological mapping, and geochemical sampling over selected parts of the Mikhail 2 claim (which covered the Harrymel Creek location. This work did not yield any anomalous precious or base metals values. One heavy mineral sample, from a creek in the northern part of the claim, yielded an anomalous gold value of 2238 ppb. However, this creek originates beyond the property boundary, consequently, this elevated gold value may be due to mineralization located adjacent to the property area.

In 1990, Loki Gold Corp collected a total of 62 rock samples, 493 soil samples (366 contour and 127 grid controlled), and 61 stream silt sample. Most of this work was done on their Paradigm 2 claim to the north.

In 2020, Eskay Mining Corp. completed a program of prospecting, rock sampling, ground and airborne geophysical surveys and 4335 metres of diamond drilling in 20 holes on the area as part of the Sib-Corey-North Mitchell property. The geophysical surveys consisted of a 911.7 line-kilometre airborne electromagnetic survey, a 55.85 line-kilometre induced polarization survey and a 43.19 line-kilometre magnetotelluric survey. Drilling was performed on the TV (MINFILE 104B 385) and Jeff (MINFILE 104B 525) occurrences.
